West End Live is the musicals festival from London. This year will be celebrated on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 June 2015 in the iconic setting of Trafalgar Square. The free musical extravaganza, showcasing the best of the West End, is now the largest event of its type in the world and attracts crowds of more than 500,000 people over the course of the weekend.
Is organised by Westminster City Council in partnership with the Society of London Theatre. Everybody can enjoy this event; it’s a weekend full of free entertainment from some of the West End’s biggest shows. In Leicester Square there will be some important events too, like take a photo with an Olivier Award or a Dinosaur Zoo.
There are a few confirmed performances for this 2015 West End Live. Returning this year there are ‘Billy Elliot’, ‘Charlie and the chocolate factory’, ‘Jersey Boys’, ‘Mamma Mia!’, ‘Matilda’, ‘Wicked’, ‘Miss Saigon’, ‘Les Misérables’… Most of them are performing year after year, making enjoy the fans like the first time.
But, as always, there are some new musicals too. This year’s been lot of new shows in the city and some of them will be performing a few songs like ‘Beautiful’, ‘Sunny Afternoon’, ‘Memphis’, ‘Gypsy’, ‘American Idiot’ or ‘Seven brides for seven brothers’.
On the square there will be different stores where the visitors can get some information about musical theatre and London. It’s a very familiar event, everybody can go and spend the day watching all the shows from London.
Also, some of the capital’s most popular cultural attractions will also be on hand to bring and exciting range of interactive activities for all the family to enjoy. So is one of the most important celebrations of musical theatre in the world, so if you are in London that weekend, you must go!
